Roger DeCoster to Part Ways with Suzuki

Thursday, September 02, 2010
The championship-winning Rockstar Makita Suzuki team and Roger DeCoster will be parting ways after the close of the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross season.
DeCoster has been Team Manager for Suzuki’s Supercross and Motocross efforts for 15 years, and together they have earned numerous titles and championships. DeCoster will continue to lead the team through the final two rounds of the Motocross series.

With numerous titles under his guidance, long time Suzuki team manager Roger DeCoster leaves on the heels of handing Suzuki a Supercross and Motocross championship title.
The championship-winning Rockstar Makita Suzuki team, led by Ryan Dungey, earned the 2010 AMA/FIM Supercross title in May and wrapped up the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross championship last weekend at Southwick, making him the most successful rookie in Supercross and Motocross history.
For now, the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team plans to focus on finishing off the 2010 season strong and celebrate the incredible year it has been. For 2011, the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team looks forward to defending its championships with Ryan Dungey sporting the number one plate in both the Supercross and Motocross series. The team will begin the search for a new manager in preparation for the 2011 race season.
American Suzuki Motor Corp., the Rockstar Makita Suzuki racing team, Rockstar Energy Drink, Makita Industrial Tools, Yoshimura R&D of America, and all the sponsors of the team wish Roger the best in his future endeavours and thank him for the great years spent together at the races.
“You can never replace an icon like Roger,” said Yoshimura R&D of America Vice President Don Sakakura. “However, with Suzuki and Yoshimura’s racing DNA still strong as ever, and with the core nucleus of the team staying the same, we are looking forward to defending the 2010′s championships. Roger has made great contributions with Suzuki and certainly has the utmost respect, friendship, and our acknowledgement of a job well done. We wish him nothing but good luck in the future.”

Brad Lackey Statement about Danny Chandler’s Passing
Posted by: | Comments
FULLERTON, CA – It is with mixed emotions that I write to Danny’s friends and the world. While we are all extremely saddened by the sudden passing of our friend and my little motocross brother, we are also happy that Danny is at peace now. He is probably already looking at how to turn one cloud’s double into a triple and see if he can do it with one foot off and one hand off his bent handlebar!

Coming Soon? KTM Fuel Injected Two Stroke
Posted by: | CommentsIt appears that KTM has Fuel Injection ready for two stroke motocross bikes. In the August 2008 issue of Motocross Digital magazine (free subscription available at http://www.motocrossdigital.com/ ) was the following blurb about the KTM effort.

The 250SX could have a bright future, it depends on what happens regarding the rules and regulations: KTM wants them to be introduced to MX2 to allow teams that don’t have millionaire budget to compete against the 4-strokes. For the 2-stroke, the injection is ready, and this would provide cleaner and precise power delivery.
While the idea of fuel injection for two-strokes has been talked about and discussed, there has been little to indicate that it would be workable on a racing two-stroke motocross bike. This news points to the fact that KTM has been working on it for quite some time and seems to have solved the issues that prevented fuel injection for racing two-strokes.
Since this article in Motocross Digital was written some changes have been announced in the FIM rules to allow two-strokes to compete with four-strokes in MX2 (250cc). There are also rumblings that this rule will be applied to the AMA Outdoor Nationals for 2009.
So there is a good chance the Fuel Injected 250SX KTM will be hitting the tracks in the very near future. This is great news for all the two stroke fans of the world.
Two thumbs up for the folks at KTM!
KTM Contingency Program with XTRM
Posted by: | CommentsKTM has expanded its grassroots contingency program with XTRM Sports Network for 2010.
In addition to Off Road, MX and ATV, KTM have added Road Racing and professional Motocross, Arenacross and Supercross to their 2010 program. The 2010 Road Race Contingency Program rewards everyone from weekend racers to experienced professionals for their racing success with KTM. This grassroots contingency program will cover the entire United States with 7 regional road racing series and 21 racing classes.
KTM will be using XTRM’s industry leading online automated contingency payout and sponsorship system. The proprietary system tracks results and payout schedules electronically, plus ranks athletes with a unique ranking and ratification system. This will allow KTM to automatically pay winning athletes with KTM bucks, discounts and even cash. Everything is done with a few clicks of the button on XTRM’s website. As a result, KTM’s brand is associated with not only winning athletes and teams, but also a company that takes their contingency seriously.
KTM road racers are encouraged to sign up for the contingency program at www.xtrm.com/ktm for an opportunity to stake claim to their share of the 2010 contingency. Once all race series schedules are finalized, racers will be able to log on and review the eligibility requirements, race classes covered and earn KTM Cash.
